Last but not least, getting to and from Siesta Beach, in spite of its generous parking facility, was a total bear. There was absolutely no way to do that at Siesta Beach when we went. At Clam Pass, the water was crystal clear, and I could swim with my goggles like a scuba diver at great depths and look for little fish and shells in the sand underwater. Additionally, the water was murky - certainly not transparent. There was no vegetation in Siesta Beach, just sand and prominent condominium complexes in the background. On the other hand, Siesta Beach lacked the type of secluded, undeveloped beauty that I have seen in other Gulf Coast beaches in Florida, including my most recent favorite outside Naples called “Clam Pass”.

Nevertheless, I was there long enough to make an informed decision about the quality of Siesta Beach and how it ranks in the echelon of beaches visited by Cherry Wonderdog.Īs the title indicates, I found the beach to be mighty impressive, especially with its vast openness, beautiful soft sand, long boardwalk from the end of the parking lot pathway until nearly the lifeguard station, and large, totally free parking area. Out of an abundance of caution, we limited our stay to a couple of hours to decrease our chances of developing melanoma. When we went during February school vacation week, the sand literally felt like flour, and under the bright Floridian sun, we could have stayed for hours.
Its quartz-based consistency has the unusual ability to resist overheating, so there’s no risk of burning your feet while walking barefoot. It’s a vast open beach with powdery white sand as far as the eye can see. There’s no denying that Siesta Beach is a geological marvel. The water isn’t clear as in the Caribbean however other things I’ve mentioned make this a great spot to swim and have beach time. I enjoyed myself on this beach and would definitely come back to enjoy. I felt safe and felt secure to leave my items unattended while I waded in water. Not one person approached me about buying their trinkets or anything else. That was the highlight of my trip.Īnother thing I appreciated was the presence of law enforcement. This was so amazing to me as I’ve traveled plenty on different waterways and Never seen dolphins in the ocean. There were a pod of dolphins that kept coming close to shore where we could see them. The weather warmed up and the wind calmed down. Needless to say no one was actually in water at that time however many were getting feet and legs wet walking along the sand. The wind was high today and weather was in 50’s. It was about half a mile walk before I found a spot close to water and set up shop. I got a spot on the first row and headed up to beach. I arrived about 8AM & there was still plenty of parking. I was not sure what to expect if this beach but I was happy with my time here.
